"The Garden of the Gods"

Colorado Springs' Garden of the Gods is comprised of 1300 acres of the most fascinating landscapes in America.

Sedimentary sandstone of deep-red, pink and white shapes reach for the blue-bird Colorado skies.

An abundance of hiking trails weave throughout the park. Deer are easily spotted and just before a winter storm, bighorn sheep move into the Garden searching for relief from the weather up on the mountain.

Sunrise is my favorite time to photograph the Garden. Just as the sun peeps over the eastern plains, the sandstone lights up in red as if a switch had been made. But that light is fleeting. If you want to see it, don't be late!

"You wind among rock of every conceivable and inconceivable shape and size...all bright red, all motionless and silent, with a strange look of having been just stopped and held back in the very climax of some supernatural catastrophe."
