"Iceland"

Before becoming a photographer, I visited Iceland several times. In the 1980s, I flew anti-submarine missions for the U.S. Navy from Keflavik Naval Air Station. These flights provided me with a unique aerial perspective of the island's stunning geography, from its volcanic landscapes to its glacial rivers.

In 2017, my nephew, his son, and I rented a jeep and circumnavigated the island in eight days. This road trip allowed us to witness firsthand the diverse beauty of Iceland's terrain, from the lush green valleys to the stark, rugged coastlines. We explored various natural wonders, including the geothermal springs, majestic waterfalls, and the otherworldly lava fields.

The journey also gave me a new perspective on Iceland's landscape, enhancing my appreciation for its pristine environment and inspiring many of my subsequent photographic projects. Each visit to Iceland has deepened my connection to this magnificent land, influencing both my personal views and professional work as a photographer.

Here the Skógafoss is lost in its own scale. Notice the telephone poles in the distance. You can walk right up to the bottom, but you must be prepared to get wet.
